NotreDame can be considered as one of the most prominent icons of our inner-world striving - the "inner-world" representing the spiritual, magickal, philosophical things that happen in our mind, and beyond our mind, as perceived by the gnostic. And in the very same way, Arecibo can be considered as one of the most prominent icons of our outer-world strivings, which is natural science.
Both do, in some way, represent the highest achievements of their respective time, the most ambitioned, delicate and far-reaching endeavours. And both together represent precisely the very core of our values: חכמה and בינה, wisdom and understanding. They represent our civilisation - which apparently has come to an end.
